Over the years, mouth cancer has become more prevalent and it is important to catch this possibly fatal disease as early as we can.
Mouth cancer (or oral cancer) can affect the mouth, neck, head, and throat. The exact cause of it is unknown; however, research has shown that smokers have a higher chance of developing this cancer.
We offer mouth cancer screening appointments to all of our patients so that we can look out for any troubling symptoms or changes in the mouth. These include:
- Red or white patches
- Sores that have not healed after a few weeks
- Lumps on the mouth, lips or tongue
- Sores that bleed
It is important to note that the above symptoms are not always a sign of cancer, so please visit your dentist as soon as possible to have them checked.
While we check for cancer signs during routine appointments, we can also organise specific screening appointments if you have any concerns, so please click here or call 01422 229616 to contact us now.
